is there a way to disconnect the secondary air pump on a 2001 1.8t jetta?

ie; pulling compound, relay etc. and will the car still run?? from what i have read it is only for emissions (which we do not do emissions testing here) and I in point of fact dont have the knowledge or the cash to perform yet another common VW patch up. And as politically incorrect


You can take out the whole secondary air system and it will be pointed. Your check engine light will stay on and throw the laws. The only issue you may run into is the pre-cat O2 sensor, but if you don't have emissions it isn't that big of a deal either. That one will just slap
